Facebook Identity Theft
Me: Mom, today is not your birthday…
Mom: It was a fake birthday to throw off identity thieves… It didn’t work too well. I have confused my friends!

Mark: oh, that will go in my junk drawer.
me: nah, you don't need a junk drawer! Just get rid of it.
Mark: fine then, I'll call it my treasure drawer

Another year goes by
Christmas and New Years were a joy, how wonderful it is to be surrounded by family and friends. I enjoyed all that 2010 brought and for the people that were brought into my life. I sure am looking forward to 2011!

Another update… First and foremost, Kelli is doing much better! I couldn’t be more thankful for the prayers of friends and family and for God’s faithfulness to answer our prayers. In fact, as I’m writing this, she’s begging me to make her more toast. I’ve never been happier to make food for my sister.
I finished student teaching on December 17th and it was a...
I have these friends
…and we have been friends since 6th grade, if not longer. Tonight we got meet up for some dessert and good conversation. I love these friends. They’re the type of friends that will always be my friends. We went through the awkward years together, teenage years together, and now we’re adults together. This might be a challenging phase of life, but when I spend time with friends...

3 more weeks
Thanksgiving break was wonderful, refreshing, and well spent! I got to have time off work, go home, watch movies, and bundle up (finally!) and I was lucky to spend Thanksgiving day with two really great families :) I am truly thankful for so much. Update on the job situation: Less than 3 weeks from now, I will be finished student teaching! Yay! That time went by quick. I can’t believe that...

Sorry blog, I just haven’t found time for you lately. BIG post coming right up! Life is good and very busy. Here’s an update :)
1. I am student teaching in high school special education now. I don’t have a picture, but I love it. I might actually love it more than I love teaching elementary. However, I’ll take a job wherever I can find one! I will officially be finished...

Favorite quote of the day
I realize I have a lot of catch up to do… I also realize all I blog about lately is teaching… but I can’t resist quickly getting this into the blog world and teaching consumes a great deal of my time these days. I am student teaching in high school now and one of my students said one of the sweetest things today. Andrew is about 6’1”, 250lbs, and quite possibly the...

Spreading the good news
The other day at school, we were talking to our class about the bus evacuation drill that was coming up. One student raised her hand and said “I’m not scared because I have Jesus in me!”
Way to spread the good news Christina :) If I can’t say it in a public school, my student will! I love my job

Student teaching... you knew this was coming
I started student teaching yesterday. 9/7/10 5:45am wake up. Apparently the Sun isn’t quite up yet- who knew?! 6:45 sit in traffic on the 91 freeway with everyone else from the inland empire who has a real job. 7:15 arrive at Orange Elementary School. 7:45 meet the students- love them already. (4th, 5th, and 6th grade moderate/severe special ed. Yes!! They’re awesome.) 8:00 the daily...

C-B-What?
CBU! The bookstore was crawling with freshman today excited about moving into the dorms, nervous about meeting new people, and stressed with the amount of books they were about to buy and crack open in a couple weeks. I worked rush at the bookstore once again this year. I have to admit, it was nice to be back. It reminded me of when I moved into the dorms in August of 2005. I met some of my...
Happy as the sun
This is my second week of my 3 week break before it’s back to the grind. I can’t remember the last time I had no work OR school! It’s a wonderful feeling. I haven’t felt more relaxed than I am right now in a long time. I love that in the last week I’ve been to the beach three times, gone home to see my beautiful family, gone to a wedding for two wonderful people,...
I was reminded today how fragile life is… and the more I think about it, I am also reminded of the mighty power of God.
I'm a big girl now.
I had my first real job interview this morning. “Real” as in, interviewing for a professional position where there was a panel of highly qualified people sitting in front of me asking me questions. (yikes.) Before I went in the building for the interview I sat in my car and prayed that this experience would be one that would benefit my future endeavors as a teacher. I started thinking...

Sunburns
Julie: I hate being sunburned. Know why?
Me: Why?
Julie: Because when I see someone with a sunburn I think they're irresponsible.
Me: (laughter)
Julie: See, I'm not irresponsible, I'm just lazy.
I love my roommate.

A couple things my computer told me today.
1. It’s supposed to be 103* in Riverside today. Welcome to the neighborhood, summer. 2. The Padres are still in first place. About time. 3. At 9:00am today it was already 90* outside. HOT. HOT. HOT! Thank goodness for an office with air conditioning! Stay cool ;)
This just made me laugh so hard. A nice break from...

Can you get the top of your head wet?
Today I got to spend time with a dear friend from church and her two boys, Ethan and Austin. We were trying to get Austin to be brave in the water and it seemed to be working when he put is mouth in the water to blow bubbles and said, “my face is wet!” So I went a little further and asked “Hey Austin, can you get the top of your head wet?!” He said “Yeah!” and...

Summer nights
are the best kind of nights. I love that it’s 8:04pm and it still isn’t dark outside. I love that I can still be wearing shorts and a T-shirt at dusk. I love that pools stay warm for evening swims and I love drinking a cool glass of lemonade in a clean house. Happy second day of summer everyone, enjoy!

Lake Day.
I love my friends and I love summer. Kayla, you’re great :)

You might be sick of these by now, but here’s more….
It's $2.00. Ok, ok, fine... Fifty cents.
I had my first garage sale today. Since I don’t have a steady job this summer, I decided I needed to try and sell a few things for some extra cash. Challenge #1 - part with some of my beloved items (it’s always been a tough task for me) Challenge #2 - Sort and price. (easier said than done) Challenge #3 - wake up at the crack of dawn. Challenge #4 - put on my game face. I...

It’s been a while since I’ve really been in the blog world, so here is an update of what’s been going on lately. A few weeks ago, I went to Pasadena for a mini vacation and Lindsay took me to Santa Monica and later that night we went dancing. Quite a date I’d say.
I took a trip to Ohio where I got to see some family that I haven’t seen in a while. I love my...
