Facebook Identity Theft

Me:
Mom, today is not your birthday…
Mom:
It was a fake birthday to throw off identity thieves… It didn’t work too well. I have confused my friends!

While organizing...

Mark:
oh, that will go in my junk drawer.
me:
nah, you don't need a junk drawer! Just get rid of it.
Mark:
fine then, I'll call it my treasure drawer

Another year goes by

Christmas and New Years were a joy, how wonderful it is to be surrounded by family and friends. I enjoyed all that 2010 brought and for the people that were brought into my life. I sure am looking forward to 2011!

Another update…

First and foremost, Kelli is doing much better! I couldn’t be more thankful for the prayers of friends and family and for God’s faithfulness to answer our prayers. In fact, as I’m writing this, she’s begging me to make her more toast. I’ve never been happier to make food for my sister.

I finished student teaching on December 17th and it was a day filled with mixed emotions. I’m excited to be finished and finally have my credential but also under quite a bit of pressure to get a job. Anyone need a severe special education teacher? ;)

Christmas is just around the corner… Actually, Christmas eve is tomorrow and I am so happy and privileged to be celebrating the birth of Christ.

On Tuesday we went to see Peter Pan and it was great! I don’t have a picture from the night but I had a lot of fun and I was with some pretty fun people! The only thing is, seeing a play made me start to form a list of plays I still want to see. Hopefully I’ll be able to make a dent in that list in 2011.

I’m looking forward to discovering all that 2011 has to offer!

I have these friends

…and we have been friends since 6th grade, if not longer. Tonight we got meet up for some dessert and good conversation. I love these friends. They’re the type of friends that will always be my friends. We went through the awkward years together, teenage years together, and now we’re adults together. This might be a challenging phase of life, but when I spend time with friends like them I almost forget about the tough stuff.

God bless good friends.

3 more weeks

Thanksgiving break was wonderful, refreshing, and well spent! I got to have time off work, go home, watch movies, and bundle up (finally!) and I was lucky to spend Thanksgiving day with two really great families :) I am truly thankful for so much.

Update on the job situation:
Less than 3 weeks from now, I will be finished student teaching! Yay! That time went by quick. I can’t believe that all my hard work is about to pay off. Prayers for a job!

Speaking of prayers, my beautiful sister Kelli is in the hospital. Pray for Kelli’s comfort and healing, wisdom for the doctors, and strength for my mom and dad.  My parents sure are wonderful and Kelli and I have been so blessed to have people like them to love and care for us.

Thankful and joyfully anticipating the Christmas season. God is good.

Blog neglect…

Sorry blog, I just haven’t found time for you lately. BIG post coming right up! Life is good and very busy.
Here’s an update :)

1. I am student teaching in high school special education now. I don’t have a picture, but I love it. I might actually love it more than I love teaching elementary. However, I’ll take a job wherever I can find one! I will officially be finished December 17th and I will have my credential in hand on January 12th. Yay! Here’s a picture from the elementary class I taught last month. They insisted on holding the jack-o-lanterns we made over their faces. Sorry folks.

2. SL weekends are still happening and I love it. I could not be happier to have these girls in my life. The first picture is our trip to San Diego a couple of months ago and the second one is in L.A. First SL weekend without Shan :/ We missed you.

 3. Halloween was awesome.

4. My friend Tiana (far right) is getting married this weekend. The four of us have been friends since 6th grade. I love that the Lord has a way of keeping friendships like these in my life regardless of how often we get to see each other. Congratulations James and Tiana! (side note: we also went to middle school with James, Tiana’s soon to be husband, who would have thought they’d get married?!)

5. This guy continues to make me incredibly happy. What a blessing.

6. I am excited for fall and all that comes with it. (For example, Thanksgiving break next week, yes!)

Time sure does go by fast these days, especially since It does not feel quite like fall outside and I have been staying so busy. Before we know it Christmas will be here

May everyone have a blessed Thanksgiving.

Favorite quote of the day

I realize I have a lot of catch up to do… I also realize all I blog about lately is teaching… but I can’t resist quickly getting this into the blog world and teaching consumes a great deal of my time these days. I am student teaching in high school now and one of my students said one of the sweetest things today.

Andrew is about 6’1”, 250lbs, and quite possibly the nicest boy in our class.  He is polite, sincere, and concerned for the well being of others. Today, Andrew walked in the classroom where some of us were talking to Ean’s parents. Ean (pronounced Ian) is another student in our class. When andrew came in, the scene went a little bit like this:

Teacher: “Hi Andrew, these are Ean’s parents”
Andrew:  reaches out hand to shake Ean’s father’s hand “Hello, Mr. Ean, Mrs. Ean” and shakes their hands. “Pleased to meet you” he says.

As serious as can be and without a clue that he had made my day. Oh the joy these students bring!

Spreading the good news

The other day at school, we were talking to our class about the bus evacuation drill that was coming up. One student raised her hand and said “I’m not scared because I have Jesus in me!” Way to spread the good news Christina :) If I can’t say it in a public school, my student will! I love my job
